Quick answer: Tip = bill × tip%. Total per person = (bill + tip) ÷ number of people. 15–20% is a common tip in restaurants.
Worked example
A bill of 60 with an 18% tip gives a tip of 10.80 and a total of 70.80. Split between two people, that is 35.40 each.

- Tipping on a total that already includes a service charge.
- Assuming every country tips the same way. In some places tipping is small or not expected.

- A fast way to work out 15%: find 10% by moving the decimal, then add half of that.
- Check the bill first. Some restaurants add a service charge automatically.
